Tutors
Volunteer tutors work one-on-one with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade students. Tutoring activities include reading with students one on one, working with students on homework help and assisting teachers with classroom activities.

Large Volunteer Groups

If you are in-charge of a confirmation group, school group, or other group of volunteers, the Upper Room is organized to provide your group with meaningful, substantive volunteer work. Please contact Colleen McEvoy Schorgl, our volunteer coordinator, to set-up arrangements for your group.

Volunteer Expectations

To teach volunteers how to be great reading tutors, the Upper Room orients volunteers on their first day. In addition, we provide documentation explaining what makes for great reading tutors.

Tracking Service Hours

Through our website, volunteer hours will be tracked on-line. Volunteers will be able to access and print their service hour-log at home. We are happy to offer this for our volunteer students.
