Teachers
The Swope Corridor teachers vary in school districts and grade levels, but all have a passion for fostering the reading comprehension potential of grade school students. The Upper Room Program utilizes the Accelerated Reader system to track the reading comprehension progress of its 1st through 8th graders. While special training with or previous exposure to the Accelerated Reader system is preferred, any prospective teacher with experience in reading instruction is welcome to apply. In primary grades, highly qualified high school tutors, who assist in much of the legwork required to motivate and educate young students, augment the 17-1 student-to-teacher ratio. The unique and relaxed atmosphere of the Upper Room Program nevertheless cultivates a worthwhile teaching experience for those educators who feel compelled to aid in the Program’s goals.
