After-School Program

The Upper Room has been providing after-school enrichment for nearly twenty years. We tailor our after-school programs based on the needs of each individual partnered school.

The After-School Program is made up a few components, including:

  • Free hot meal: All students involved in the after-school program receive a hot meal for free.
  • Homework Help: Youth counselors and volunteer tutors will provide one-on-one homework help to students as needed.
  • Enrichment Activities. Courses from organizations and individuals teaching students subjects as
    • Art
    • Music with the Eddie Baker School of Music
    • Scouting
    • Dance
    • Sports
    • and more!

After-School Program Schedule

All After-School programs run until 6 pm and begin with a meal.

The first hour is reserved for homework help and is followed by enrichment activities that vary by each program.

Our Year-Round Model

We provide reading instruction, homework help, a daily meal, and much more. The program is Monday – Friday after school until 6:00 pm. We track the students’ progress each week.

Our program is open to all students, regardless of family income. Our students are not required to pass a reading level. We employ teachers who speak multiple languages to work with parents that do not speak English as a first language. We try our best to accommodate all of our applicants. We do not turn any students away until our capacity has been met.
